Ardú Street Art Project 2021 in Cork, Ireland – StreetArtNews

The Ardú Street Art project arrived in Cork in October 2020, injecting an explosion of color, dynamism and life into the city in lockdown. Seven of Ireland’s most respected and renowned street artists have been invited to create key city center locations, in response to a theme inspired by the Cork fire in 1920. Find Deirdre Breen’s work at Wandesford Quay, Maser in The Kino, James Earley in Henry Street, Peter Martin in Kyle Street, Shane O’Driscoll in Harley Street, Aches in Anglesea Street and Garreth Joyce in Liberty Street.

The Ardú team are delighted to announce their return to the streets of Cork City starting today from September 27 to October 11, with four more large-scale murals to brighten up the city center landscape. Commissioning works of art from top local talents is Ardú’s main goal. The 2021 edition will host artists – Friz (Belfast), Shane O’Malley (Galway), Conor Harrington (London) and Asbestos (Dublin).

Ardú organizers Shane O’Driscoll, Paul Gleeson and Peter Martin are delighted to present the second edition of Ardú to the public, in a safe space where you can watch the murals come to life outside.

“At a time when we face common and personal challenges, each of our artists’ murals is a rallying cry to the city – a call to remember that we have already gone through terrible times and have risen up. We can do it again.

After having such a positive impact on the city last year, we are delighted to be back with another lineup of inspiring artists to transform the streets of Cork City.

Friz is the first artist to launch this year’s series, currently painting in St Finbarr’s Road, Cork. Further details on the Ardú Street Art project, including each wall location, will be announced shortly.
