Do you have a sense of design? The contest for the new “I voted” sticker starts in September

ST. LOUIS – A contest will start in mid-September where “all voters and aspiring voters” can submit artwork for a new “I voted” sticker.

The St. Louis County Board of Elections has partnered with the St. Louis County Library to research the next creative design. The contest starts September 27 and ends October 15, according to a Facebook post.

“That’s right – the generic stickers you received at the polls will be a thing of the past in 2022,” the post read.

Students in grades 6 through 12 and those 18 and older who live in St. Louis County are eligible to participate. The competition will be divided into three categories among age groups.

The judges will be representatives of the electoral office and the library.

“We are very fortunate to have the St. Louis County Library as a partner in this community effort.
Their expertise and involvement throughout the community will allow us to engage with our
future voters to design new ‘I Voted’ stickers, ”says a press release from Rick Stream and Eric Fey, directors of the board of elections.

“Most people only interact with the electoral committee when it comes time to vote, so this opportunity will spark interest in elections and voting in a new way. “

Submissions must include the phrase “I voted” or “I voted in St. Louis County” and “express a voting and election message in words or pictures,” according to the press release. .

Digital and hand-drawn entries will be accepted. Judges look for artistic skill and technical excellence, a meaningful and cohesive theme and uniqueness of the design.

There is a limit of one entry per person before 5 p.m. on October 15.

After the submission deadline, the top three entries in each category will be selected. Then, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite in each category from November 5, according to the press release.

The winners will be announced on November 15 where they will receive prizes, and their artwork will be professionally printed and distributed to polling stations throughout St. Luis County next year.
